Embroidery on Knitting
.
Quite a while ago I had an impulse to embroider on a pair of my hand knit socks. I really liked how they looked and wondered about having a go at, and learning about embroidery on other knitted items. When my knitting friends and I were able to meet up outside to knit, a small lap blanket was wanted in the colder months and I had in mind a sort of old fashioned embroidery sampler.

I chose to knit small patches to make it easier to handle for embroidery but also because I liked the idea of sewing the patches together like a quilt. The whole blanket is backed with some soft woollen fabric and I adore the result. The squares are 13cm high and 16cm wide. The rectangles are 13cm high by 7cm wide. The whole piece is 76cm by 49cm, a perfect lap blanket size.
