Hot Water Bottle Sweaters

Little pullovers for the sartorial and discerning Hot Water Bottle

Dear Heart

A mini Hotwater bottle sweater for a loved one

This is a little knit in the round sweater with a duplicate stitch heart.
The Hot Water Bottle is a mini 14.5cm across and 19.5cm tall so it's a quick knit.
I used 100g hank West Yorkshire Spinners Fleece Aran (Very soft and squishy) The sweater only takes around 40g so you can easily make 2 !
You will need a small amount of a second colour yarn
You will need size 4.5mm double pointed or circular needles for the ribbing and size 5mm double pointed or circular needles for the body of the sweater.
The gauge is 17.5 stitches / 23.5 rows to 10cm square

  1. With 4.5mm needles and main colour cast on 48sts plus 1 extra stitch to join in the round
  2. K2, P2 for 12 rounds
  3. Knit 1 complete round in main colour and one complete round with your second colour.
  4. Then with your main colour knit a further 35 rounds
  • Decrease rounds to form the shoulders of the Sweater;
  • 1. * K1, SSK, K18, K2tog, K1 *
  • 2. Knit round
  • 3. * K1, SSK, K16, K2tog, K1 *
  • 4. Knit round = 40 stitches
  • 5. * K1, SSK, K14, K2tog, K1 *
  • 6. * K1, SSK, K14, K2tog, K1 * = 32 stitches left
  • Switch back to 4.5mm needles
  • K2, P2 rib for 12 rows
  • Cast off in pattern with a stretchy bind off. Here is a great link on how to do a stretchy bind off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbzeEg6XMwM&t=3s

Choose a second colour for your heart and follow the above chart for the duplicate stitches. Here is a video showing you how to do it.

You don’t have to stick to one heart, you could do as many as you want and all different colours.
